1.  The name of the Society shall be the Cardigan Welsh Corgi Society of Ireland hereinafter referred to as the Society. Its aims and objectives are to promote the well-being, breeding, and exhibition of the Cardigan Welsh Corgi and to further the knowledge of and interest in the breed.


2.  The Society shall consist of an unlimited number of members. The list of members shall be made available upon request. All new members shall be accepted provisionally on payment of the appropriate membership subscription and their acceptance should be by a majority vote at the next committee meeting. In the event of the membership application not being successful at this stage then the membership subscription will be returned to them in full. Members are required to abide by the Society’s Code of Ethics.


3.  The Society’s affairs shall be vested in a Chairman and a Committee comprising of Hon. Secretary, Hon. Treasurer and four (4) other Committee members with the power to co-opt any new Committee member with specialist interest and skills to the benefit of the Society.


4.  All Committee members shall be elected annually at the Annual General Meeting and are required to be proposed and seconded.


5.  Meetings of the Society will be called by the Hon. Secretary and notification of such meetings will be given in writing to members giving a minimum of 14 days notice stating the date, time, venue and agenda.


6.  A Quorum shall consist of three (3) Executive members (Chairman, Hon. Secretary, Hon. Treasurer) and two (2) Committee members.


7.  Special Meetings may be called at which only the specific topic will be discussed. The Special meetings may be held at the request of the Committee members. 


8.  A bank account shall be opened in the name of the Society into which all the revenue of the Society shall be paid into – withdrawals from the account shall require 2 signatures of which one is to be the Hon. Treasurer.


9. The Irish Kennel Club shall be informed of the outcome of the Annual General Meeting together with a certified copy of the Society’s accounts.


10. The Society cannot be dissolved without two (2) Special meetings and informing all of the members in writing. All property (trophies, funds, etc.) will be forwarded to the Irish Kennel Club in the event of the Society being dissolved and the Irish Kennel Club shall act as the custodian of the said property.


11. The “Rules of the Society” can only be amended by Committee meeting.
